The trip was ambitious and a big personal challenge. Never the less, I believed I had a chance beating the record, and my experience from two previous trips in Australia proved to be an advantage for me. An added bonus was the $15.000 prize offer by Eugen Schilter for anyone who could beat his record of 55 days, 17 hours and 8 minutes, for an unsupported bike ride around Australia. Due to Danish/Australian tax authorities, and the fact that it's for a good purpose, it was agreed between Eugen Schilter and me, that the money (If I earned the prize) was to be divided into two equal portions of $7.500 each, and paid directly to the Danish and the Australian Red Cross with one portion to each.
